Psycholinguistic characteristics of legal vocabulary
Abstract
The article examines the psycholinguistic features of legal vocabulary as a key factor in improving legal communication. The focus is on identifying the characteristics of legal terms — in particular, their semantic analysis, associative field, and linguistic stereotypes — as well as the impact of such vocabulary on the expression and understanding of legal norms. The paper explores the mechanisms of cognitive modification of terms, semantic activation, and the expansion of conceptual boundaries, which helps to substantiate the need to take these phenomena into account in order to uphold the “principle of clarity” in legal discourse. The research findings can be used to optimize the wording of legal norms and enhance the effectiveness of professional communication in the legal field.
