The article is devoted to the application of geographic information systems (GIS) in the environmental monitoring of the Bogdinsk-Baskunchak Nature Reserve, a unique territory with pronounced karst processes and high biodiversity. Using the example of analyzing the dynamics of karst sinkholes, mapping research routes and accounting for biological species, it is shown how the integration of GIS technologies increases the accuracy and efficiency of ecomonitoring. The use of mobile applications, satellite imagery, and multilayer maps has made it possible to automate data collection, optimize tourist flow management, and minimize anthropogenic impact. The results demonstrate that GIS platforms not only simplify the visualization of spatial data, but also contribute to the development of conservation strategies for rare species and vulnerable ecosystems. The article highlights the key role of GIS in the adaptive management of protected areas under increasing anthropogenic pressure.
In addition to the risks associated with cutting metal, the ship dismantling process can also expose workers and the environment to a number of hazardous chemicals, one of which is insulation and polychlorinated biphenyls in cables. This article discusses environmentally friendly methods for the disposal of cable systems left over from ship dismantling. It analyzes the types of marine cables, the composition of the wires, and the possible environmental risks associated with their improper disposal. Existing and new concepts for multi-blade wire stripping of insulation and contaminants using a mechanical approach are considered and their environmental benefits are outlined.

The article explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on social science students. It examines the dual role of AI as a potential ally in learning, facilitating the personalization of the educational process and easing access to information, and as an autonomous authority capable of fostering dependence and reducing critical thinking. The analysis is based on the results of an empirical study conducted among students of Russian universities studying sociology, political science, and international relations. The study aims to identify students’ perceptions of AI tools and assess their impact on learning motivation, autonomy in learning, and the development of analytical skills. Particular attention is paid to the ethical aspects of using AI in education and the potential risks associated with excessive reliance on algorithmic recommendations. Based on the data obtained, recommendations are proposed for the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process of social sciences, promoting the development of critical thinking and student autonomy.
